Features

The MSD 7AL-3 is based off the well proven MSD 7AL-2 and features capacitive discharge multiple sparks. Plus, the 7AL-3 provides 20% more primary voltage and an additional 35% more spark energy. Not only is the 7Al-3 packed with more power but it also features a boost of the most popular drag racing accessories. A built-in Three Step Rev Control provides three different rpm limits that can be used for the burnout, holeshot, and top end overrev protection from driveline failure or missed shifts. There is also a Multi-Step Retard with four different modules that can be activated at different times by a variety of components such as a micro switch on the shifter or a nitrous solenoid. Four 0 degree modules and a 2, 3 and 4 degrees module are supplied. Many race engines with crank trigger systems or locked-out distributors will benefit from the 7Al-3's built-in Start Retard option. During cranking the Start Retard will retard the timing 25 degrees allowing the engine to turn over easier. When the engine starts, the timing will automatically go back to it's mechanical setting. One last option is an RPM Activated Switch that allows you to activate a solenoid or shift light at an adjustable rpm. When the engine hits the desired rpm the RADS circuit provides a ground to the component to activate it. Vibration mounts, wires and detailed instructions are supplied.
ALL of the 7Al-3's rpm and retard controls are easy-to-adjust with plug-in modules.
Note: MSD 7 Series Ignitions are not compatible with distributorless systems.
